Which SE to buy?

Lately Sony Ericsson has been updating their portfolio a lot and that’s why it might be a little bit confusing to find the right phone that fits on you needs. Don’t worry! I’m here to help you or at least I’m trying clear things out a little bit. Before I can help you, think about what you need. Do you need a phone that has a good calendar or maybe high-end camera? It’s really important to know what you are looking for; otherwise you could buy something that you regret afterwards. After you know, which phone it right phone, then use Internet to find information of the phone. Search reviews and users comments to find out if the phone really is what you are looking for.

So, you want a phone that can make calls and send messages. Then it’s obvious that you don’t need to spend much money. If you want a really basic phone, then Sony Ericsson J110i or J120i right phone for you. These models have clear menu system and they don’t have camera. Only difference between these phones is that J120i has radio.

If you are willing to spend a little bit more money and you want some extra features, then I would take a look at the K200i and K220i. These phones have a bigger display than J110i/J120i and VGA camera.

Then you want Walkman phone, such as W810i or W880i. If you are buying music phone, you need to think what other features you want. Do you need a camera, big high-resolution screen or just basic phone with music feature. When you are buying W-series phone you can easily spend a lot of money, but like I just said think about what you need.

Sony Ericsson just announced some new Walkman phones, such as W200i, W610i, W660i, W880i and W580i.

Sony Ericsson W200i is basic phone with music feature, VGA camera and M2 (Memory Stick Micro) support. Buy this one if you don’t need better camera or screen.

W610i is a mid-end music phone. It has 2 MP camera, EDGE, Photo light and M2 slot. Sony Ericsson W660i is pretty much the same phone as the W610i, but W660i has different design and it’s 3G. W660i is also available in red, which is quite unusual color in Walkman phone.

If you want the best Walkman phone, then you want the W880i. It has very slim design and the cover is made of stainless steel. It has 2 MP camera, 3G and it weights only 71 grams. This phone is a real beauty. Here you can see live pics of the W880i.

Also W810i could be a good choice. It’s a little bit older model, bit it has 2 MP camera, EDGE, Memory Stick PRO Duo support. Basically it as good as the W610i, but W810i doesn’t have Walkman 2.0 player, so music features might be a little bit poorer. Good thing is that W810i has Memory Stick PRO Duo slot, because those cards should be a little bit cheaper than M2 cards.

Then you basically have two choices: K800i and K810i. Both phones has 3,2 MP Cyber-Shot camera and Sony Ericsson K810i is basically re-designed K800i. If you don’t need to have the latest model then I recommend you to buy the K800i. It has same features as the K810i, but it’s cheaper.

Of course you could take a look at the K550i, but it’s not so high-end. It has 2 MP camera, EDGE and M2 support. Sony Ericsson K550i is a good choice if you don’t need so high-end camera phone.

Luckily these days Sony Ericsson has about 10 clamshells in their portfolio. Again think about what you need! You can have a clamshell with good music features, such as the W710i or you can buy stylish sleek clamshell, such as the Z610i

Sony Ericsson W710i is an active Walkman. It has Walkman player, calorie counter, EDGE and 2MP camera. If you like to run and exercise this might be the right phone for you! Also check out the Z710i. It’s just like the W710i, but without walkman player and exercise softwares.

Sony Ericsson Z610i is a very stylish phone. It has hidden mirror effect that makes the external display visible only when the Z610i is lit up. Z610i also has 2MP camera, 3G, M2 slot and Bluetooth. If you like the design but you want something cheaper, then check out the Z310i.

I need a smartphone.

Unfortunately Sony Ericsson has only three smartphones available at the moment: P990i, M600i and W950i. If you really need a smartphone, then I would not consider the W950i, because it’s high-end music phone. Of course if you need a smartphone with good music features, then W950i is just what you are looking for. It has 4GB hardrive, 3G and Symbian UIQ 9.1.

Sony Ericsson M600i is a Symbian UIQ 9.1 smartphone without camera and Wi-Fi. The good thing is that it’s quite small, light and the design is very solid. M600i also has QWERTY-keyboard, which works quite well, when you get used to it.

P990i is like M600i, but it has 2 MP camera and Wi-Fi and many people choose the P990i instead of M600i just because it has Wi-Fi.

So, you want something that all people don’t have. There are few models that could fit on your needs. Take a look at the W900i. It’s a swivel Walkman phone, 3G and it has 2MP camera with auto-focus. W900i is quite expensive and I heard that Sony Ericsson did already cancel this model, so it might be hard to find.

Sony Ericsson S700i is also something special and you can be sure that many people don’t have it. It’s already quite old model, but it has 1,3 MP camera, 240*320 color screen, Bluetooth and so on. You probably won’t find new S700i any more, so search from all forums that have buy/sell section and I’m sure you will find one.
