Photo messaging climbs as camera phones snap up market share

Camera phone ownership and usage is climbing across the U.S. and Europe, reports M:Metrics, the mobile market authority. With summer vacations in full swing in America, photo messaging has increased 32 percent since February, while in Europe, it has increased 20 percent in France and 16 percent in the United Kingdom, while remaining steady in Germany, where 19 percent of mobile phone subscribers used photo messaging in June.

Sony Ericsson joins Eclipse as Add-in Provider Member

Sony Ericsson today announced that it is joining the Eclipse community as Add-in Provider Member. By becoming an Add-in Provider, Sony Ericsson aims to contribute to the Eclipse ecosystem through creating Eclipse plug-ins of benefit to the global mobile application developer community.

Eclipse is an open-source community bringing together a number of leading organizations to create the Eclipse Platform. The platform is designed for building applications, integrated development environments (IDEs) and various tools.

Sony Ericsson More than Doubles Year-on-Year Income Before Taxes

Units shipped in the quarter reached 15.7 million, a 33% increase compared to the same period last year, and generated an increase in market share both on a year-on-year and sequential basis. Sales for the quarter were Euro 2,272 million, representing a year-on-year increase of 41%. Income before taxes was Euro 211 million representing a year-on-year increase of 143%. Net income was Euro 143 million.

Sony Ericsson's new campaign: Never Miss a Shot

5 July, 2006 - London, UK - Sony Ericsson today kicks off its global marketing campaign for the new Cyber-shot phone with the launch of "Never Miss a Shot", an action-packed TV commercial starring top female tennis players Ana Ivanovic and Daniela Hantuchova. The commercial goes live online today at www.nevermissashot.com and will be supported by an integrated global press and print campaign, point-of-sale, digital and viral marketing activities.

"Never Miss a Shot" focuses on a tennis match across the rooftops and skyscrapers between Ana and Daniela. The game begins when a sunbathing Daniela hears a tennis ball being hit by Ana on an adjacent rooftop; she immediately leaps up from her sun bed, grabs her racket and runs to return the ball, the match begins and a dramatic rally unfolds.
