Mobile market share

Nokia is still leading, but Motorola and Sony Ericsson are also gaining more market share. Nokia's market share is now about 36 % which is 2,3 % more that last year. Even that Nokia made a great job, Motorola was the biggest winner. Motorola's market share is now 21 % which is 3,4 % more than last year. According to Gartner RAZR is still selling great but the success isn't any more as good as it was, for example a year ago.

Sony Ericsson to acquire UIQ Technology AB

Sony Ericsson today announced it has reached agreement in principle for acquiring the Swedish software company UIQ Technology AB, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Symbian Ltd. UIQ Technology, which uses Symbian OS™, licenses the UIQ user interface and application development platform to mobile phone vendors worldwide.

Sony Ericsson is already a licensee of UIQ Technology, and has been working closely with the company on UIQ version 3.0, which is included in Sony Ericsson’s P990 smartphone, M600 messaging phone and W950 Walkman® phone.

Sony Ericsson appoints new Head of Sales

London, UK 25 October 2006 Sony Ericsson today announces that Anders Runevad, President Ericsson Brazil, will join Sony Ericsson effective 1st January 2007 as Executive Vice President and Head of Sales. In his new role at Sony Ericsson Anders Runevad succeeds Jan Wareby and will report to Sony Ericsson President Miles Flint. Mr Runevad will be based at the company's corporate functions office in Hammersmith, London.

Commenting on today's announcement, Anders Runevad said, "Sony Ericsson has recently celebrated its fifth anniversary and has become one of the most well-known companies in the mobile handset sector.
