Sony Ericsson programmable touchscreen keypad patent

Apple's iPhone showed us that touchscreen with good interaface is very important. Other mobile phone manufactures are following Apple. First LG accounced its Prada handsets and just a while ago Nokia showed a demo of its new iPhone alike touchscreen device. Motorola and Samsung got their own projects too. Only Sony Ericsson haven't given any information about this kind of device, but things are chancing. Sony Ericsson have just filed with the USPTO for a patent on a programmable keypad.

From the images we can see that the phone has two screens. the bottom screen is toucscreen and the interface is different depending on what the user is doing (calling, inputing text, connecting to Internet). Looks pretty interesting. It's very much the same, we have seen in iPhone.

Let see what Sony Ericsson will bring to the table. I just hope they can take the advantage of this patent.
