Sony Ericsson's new CEO, Komiyama talks about the company's future. Hideki Komiyama told to Reuters that Sony Ericsson is giving high priority to North America, on of its global weak spots, in 2008. He also believes that Sony Ericsson is able to overtake at least one of its rivals to become a global top three mobile phone maker in the next few years.
Sony Ericsson is gaining more market share but according to Komiyama Sony Ericsson isn't looking for a quick jump in market share. He wants to keep the company profitable. "Even as we gain market share we must be profitable at the low end of the market. We are not necessarily looking for a quick jump in market share."
Sony Ericsson also wants to be successful in China and India and they are planning to bring phones priced at around $50 and including some extras such as FM radio or music features to attract a growing class of customers.
