SymbianOne posted an interesting interview with Mats Barvesten, EVP Product Planning and Product Management at UIQ Technology. Before moving to UIQ Technology in June 2007, he worked at Sony Ericsson for three years planning the product portfolio, so he has a good knowledge of Sony Ericsson.
The first thing they asked from Mats Barvesten was how surprised he was to see Sony Ericsson smartphone based on Windows Mobile:
I came to UIQ Technology from Sony Ericsson in June last year. At Sony Ericsson I had been involved in planning the product portfolio for three years, so for me it was not a surprise.
Probably the most interesting part of the interview is that when Mats is talking about WVGA UIQ device:
However, we have wide screen displays, both wide QVGA and wide VGA, on the UIQ road map. And the beautiful thing about UIQ is that we have already implemented a UI framework where you can take UIQ as it is today and run it on these wide screen displays.
Sound interesting! Doesn't it? Unfortunately we can't be totally sure that he's talking about Sony Ericsson but if he is the WVGA UIQ device might be the long-rumored P5i.
