Sony Ericsson K810 mini review

First off, as most people already know the phone features many cosmetic changes to the already popular k790/800 phone. Software wise, it is almost identical except for trackID and the slightly different camera app. Everything else seems the same to me.

What i LOVE about the phone is the keypad. Like the w880, it appears to be odd and possibly discomforting at the get go, but once you start texting, you see why SE is going ahead with these different designs. The circular buttons are extremely responsive, and are spread out enough for larger hands, unlike the k790/800 where you were limited in that respect. By the way, to all the w880 haters, give the phone a shot, it will blow you away, really is one of the nicest walkman's SE has put out IMO.

Fortunately, the lens cover does not stick out to the point where you were accidentally opening when you put the phone in your pocket.

The k810 also rivals the 790/800 in the phone dept. How so? I depend on 1900 since i am in the USA and my k800, w880, m600i, z610i, and the list goes on would barely work in my store front. With the k810, i've noticed a significant boost in reception in places i need it the most. Call clarity is amazing, and the phone is loud, max is somewhat too loud in fact.

Anyways, i've only had the phone for the day, and so far, i am happy with it. It looks amazing, especially with the entire glossy front and the rubbery housing on the back. Feels great in the hand, and just turns head like any new SE. Battery life seems right on target since i'm only using GSM, and the speaker grill doesnt crackle and pop like other SE's i've dealt with.

Overall, if the k790/800 is perfect for you then don't upgrade. If you are having less than decent reception, have slightly larger hands, don't want to take pictures of your pocket, and want to carry a sexier device, then jump on the k810 bandwagon.
