Sony Ericsson to announce new T-series phones on 24.1?

We know that Sony Ericsson is having an announcement day on 24.1 and according to the recent rumor Sony Ericsson is planning to publish some new phones. To be more precise, we will see new low-end T-series phones. These new handsets will be named T270 and T280. Both will feature 128x160 resolution display, GPRS, bluetooth and FM radio. Nice to see that Sony Ericsson is adding bluetooth to its low-end handsets. Sony Ericsson T270 and T280 will have pretty much same design as the T250 and the only difference between T270 and T280 is that T280 will have camera.

Sony Ericsson trademarked XPERIA

Is XPERIA the name of the Sony Ericsson's iPhone competitor? It might be because recently Sony Ericsson filed a patent to protect the trademark Xperia in relation to “cellular or mobile phones featuring the capacity to function in any number of extra ways beyond just as a phone”.

Maybe the rumored P5i will be called XPERIA or maybe it's a totally new series from Sony Ericsson. Anyways, this sound very interesting:

(paraphrased from the filing) “function as a camera; perform instant messaging; access and communicate with e-mail; access and communicate with the Internet; function as a radio, to record, play, transmit, receive, and/or manage music; record, play, transmit, receive, edit, and/or manage video; create, view, transmit, receive, edit, and/or manage photographs; play electronic games; upload photographs and text onto online journals or web logs; function as a personal digital assistant (PDA); function as walkie-talkies; perform satellite navigation; function as a remote control for computers and run multimedia presentations”.

Sony Ericsson planning to release the P1i in black?

Usually Sony Ericsson's high-end smartphones doesn't have many color variations. At the moment the P1i is only available in silver black, which looks great I think. Maybe some of you would like to have a black P1i. Well, if you believe in the latest rumor, your dream might come true.

In my opinion this black one looks quite boring... Of course black is always stylish and that's why it's a good color for a smartphone.

Very cool Sony Ericsson W520i concept handset

Here have a very cool concept handset made by Esato user Muhummad-Oli. He/She has created W520i Walkman concept handset and unlike many other authors Muhummad-Oli has provided a lot of information about the concept handset. Sony Ericsson W520i is based on a new touch screen interface version of the A200 platform. W520i has 2 megapixel camera and Walkman 3.0 player. Sounds and looks like a great phone!

Sony Ericsson bringing out its first flip phone in 2008?

You probably do remember all the great flip phones produced by Ericsson. My first mobile phone was Ericsson T10i, which was a flip phone and that's why I think this rumor is very interesting. I found this photo from JAMPB and according to the site Sony Ericsson will be announcing two new phones very soon, actually on 6.1.2008 and one of them will be a Walkman phone with active flip.

This is definitely an interesting rumor. It would be nice to see how these flip phones would sell these days. I think the old Ericsson flip phones had a one major problem, small screen.

The USEB just posted the first real live photo of the Z660i:

Sony Ericsson Z660i is rumored to be the first ultra-slim clamshell from Sony Ericsson. The phone is based on the A200 platform and it has 2 megapixel camera.

Sony Ericsson Z555i - Non-Walkman version of the W380i?

I found some interesting information from Esato forums. According to Maximys, Sony Ericsson will announce a new clamshell phone, called Z555i. This new clamshell handset will be the successor of Z530i. Sony Ericsson Z555i will have 176x220 pixel screen with 262.144 colors, 1.3 megapixel camera with 4 x digital zoom, gesture control and changing themes. Maximys also mentioned that Z555i will be non-walkman version of the W380i, so the design might be pretty much the same.

Looks like Sony Ericsson will continue pushing out these mid-end phones. To tell the truth, I don't understand why they need to release the same phone two times: Walkman and non-Walkman version. Well, this is just a rumor, so let's see what happens!

Sony Ericsson patents waterproof housing

Some years ago, I remember that I saw this advertisement about throwaway camera that was waterproof. I guess, it was great if you wanted to take photos at beach. We all know that modern mobile phones can't stand water and if would own for example the K850i, I probably wouldn't want to take it with me to the beach. Now Sony Ericsson is working on a solution for this water "problem" They have just filled a patent called underwater image capturing. This waterproof housing would protect your phone but you are still able to take photos with your phone. Sounds quite interesting!

Sony Ericsson W980i concept handset

Sony Ericsson W980i is a slim Walkman concept handset. I don't know who is the author but this concept has a big 352x416 pixel screen and 16 million colors, 3,2 megapixel camera with autofocus, photo light, bluetooth, Mega Bass, WLAN and it weights only 104 grams.

For me, this sounds like a W910i successor. I really like this concept because it has slim design and brushed stainless-steel finish. There's only one thing missing... W980i concept doesn't have UMTS.

Is this the Sony Ericsson Z660i?

The rumor about the new ultra-slim clamshell, called Z660i, started about a week ago. Now Michell, the owner of USEB has received an interesting picture, which shows how the Z660i looks when it's open. The picture is definitely made with Photoshop, but if you compare it to this photo, you can see that the keypad looks quite similar.

In my opinion the phone looks pretty stylish, but I'm not so sure about the keypad. It reminds me of Motorola's handsets, which I didn't liked. I hope this works better! Anyways, looks like the phone will have stainless steel finish!

I think there's definitely room for this kind of clamshell in Sony Ericsson's line-up, so I obviously hope this isn't just a rumor.
