I've been using UIQ 3 smartphone for a year and I have had no viruses on my M600i. In my opinion, there's no need for antivirus software on mobile phones but Sony Ericsson and F-Secure seems to disagree. They have just announced a partnership agreement to deliver mobile security for UIQ. F-Secure will bring the F-Secure Mobile Security 3.3 for UIQ, it includes an integrated antivirus and firewall. The software will be available in selected Sony Ericsson UIQ devices.
Press release:
F-Secure Corporation, the global leader in providing security as a service through mobile operators and Internet Service Providers, is today announcing the availability of its Mobile Security product for the UIQ platform. F-Secure and Sony Ericsson are partnering on supplying mobile security to Sony Ericsson’s smartphones.
A trial version of the F-Secure Mobile Security(TM) 3.3 for UIQ will be available in selected Sony Ericsson UIQ devices. The companies will co-operate closely together in the area of mobile security to make sure that smartphones will continue to offer a safe and rich mobile computing experience.

I found this great tool from My-Symbian and it's made by malbry. jPlaylist is a small (3K) Java application and it runs on Windows XP and Vista. Basically, all it does is that jPlaylist creates a playlist of all music files in directory. It's very easy to use and you can get it for free here.
Once set up, you can right-click on any music file on your PC and it will create a playlist of all the music files in that directory. The playlist contains entries of the form:
D:Music(album name)(track name).(suffix)
which are required for UIQ3 phones. Alternatively, you can right-click on a playlist produced by your favourite CD ripping program, and jPlaylist will convert the playlist contents to the format above.
jPlaylist 1.01 creates/edits both ansi and unicode encoded playlists.

Here it is! Now you can have the Sony Ericsson P1i with the W960i's Walkman firmware. It was just a matter of time when this would happened, because people did this with the M600i and W950i also. User vagas22 also posted a video at YouTube (read more to see the video) and looks like the Walkman firmware seems to run quite nicely on the P1i.
Unfortunately there's no instructions available in English yet. I found this video and photo from the uiqmania.cz. I'm sure someone will soon post proper instructions in English too.
btw. Happy New Year!

Wohoo! Here's some great news for those who owns UIQ 3 smartphone. Now you are able to enjoy all the great NES games, such as Mega Man, Super Mario and Zelda on your phone by using iNES emulator. Unfortunately iNES has been tested only on the Motorola Z8, so it might not work with Sony Ericsson's UIQ 3 based smartphones, but don't worry! I'm sure if the emulator doen't work, there will be a new version out soon, which will add the support for Sony Ericsson's UIQ 3 smartphones. iNES will run Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and Famicom cartridge files with .nes and .nes.gz extensions.
iNES has many cool features, such as saving gameplay at any moment and Recording music into ringtones. iNES also supports network playing and it has On-screen keyboard for single or multiple key input.
You can get free trial or buy the full version only for $14.99
