New details of Opera Mini Dimension

About a month ago we reported about the upcoming Opera Mini Dimension beta test. The test hasn't started yet, but if you sign up to the beta test you will receive an alert when the beta is ready. Opera developer team has spread out some new details of Dimension. The browser will be based on a completely new code, which will make it faster and simpler to use. Dimenstion will also support more web-standards.

The new version of Sony Ericsson PC Suite for smartphones (1.3.19) is now Windows Vista compatible. Now all Vista users can easily sync their contacts, calendar, tasks, notes, e-mails and bookmarks. PC Suite for smartphones also allows you to backup the information in your mobile phone to your PC. If you have lost information in your mobile phone, you can easily restore the data from a saved backup on your PC.

For those who don't know anything about Widgets, I will clear things up a little bit. Basically Widgets are just mini-applications that brings information from net, for example You could have a RSS-feed Widget or weather Widget.

Google Calendar for mobile devices

The widely used Google Calendar is now available for mobile devices and of course it's free like the "PC version." If you are already using Google Calendar then you can use your account to log in the mobile version, which can be found here (www.google.com/calendar/m). Of course you can easily edit your calendar for example at home with your computer and the check out all the notes at work via your mobile phone. Google Calendar for mobile devices works like a real calendar. You can view all your calender entries, and add new ones, but unfortunately I could find a way to remove events. I guess they will add that feature later.

"Enhanced navigation is the next step in the evolution of mobile Web browsing. That's exactly what Opera's developers are exploring for the next version of Opera Mini.

If you read the Sony Ericsson P1i white paper, which can be downloaded here, you will notice that on page 66 it says "Skype – Voice over IP application that lets the user make mobile phone calls over the Internet." This is very interesting... Let see when they announce Skype for UIQ 3 officially.
